Studio 345

My artistic journey began as an interior designer. After 20 years in business I returned to Maryland Institute of Art to study classical painting and drawing. Color, composition, value, depth and pattern all play an important role in my work. I rely on these components to recreate a work into which the viewer is drawn. I have been working in collage, encaustic collage, shadowbox and assemblage for the past ten years. The process for a particular medium leads me step by step through such phases as gathering diverse papers, fabrics, and vintage objects that ultimately become abstract collages. Similarly, my shadowboxes are composed of an array of papers, fabrics and found objects that combine to tell a story.

Currently I am exploring encaustic painting and encaustic shadowbox.
