When engines talk about reincarnation, they imagine themselves coming back as a sculpture by Renee Tantillo. Born in Houston, Tx, and moving halfway across the country a couple of times, Renee has planted roots in Baltimore since 2004. She first witnessed welding when she was living in Boston, while visiting a friend at a machine shop. A few years later, and after moving back to Texas, she landed the opportunity to apprentice with a welder artist. Finally! With an innate proclivity to hoarding hardware and found bits, and an intrinsic interest in cars and motorcycles, what followed was quite natural. Not completely limited to metal sculpture, she also creates fun, and sometimes punny, linoleum/wood block carvings, and is embarking on an adventure in encaustics.
